Data Reference Manual

The Data Reference Manual utility details how annual statement data is stored within the NAIC database tables. This utility includes the structures of the annual statement tables sorted by page number or table name, as well as additional non-financial information for companies. (NOTE: Jurat information is not available.) The Property and Life tables are generated on a quarterly basis. 

To access the Data Reference Manual:

  1. Click the Utilities link under the Tools tab.
  2. Click the Data Reference Manual link in the General/Financial section. The Data Reference Manual page will display.
  3. Select the data year from the drop down list in the upper left of the page. 
  4. Click the category link from the Select a Link region of the page to display a list of available tables for the category selected. Available categories include: 
    Company - Company tables like Company, Company_Contact, Company_Officer, etc.
    Property - Property tables for Annual, Quarterly, & RBC
    Life - Life tables for Annual, Quarterly, RBC, & Separate Accounts
    Fraternal - Fraternal tables for Annual
    Title - Title tables for Annual
    HMDI - HMDI tables for Annual & RBC
    HMO - HMO tables for Annual & RBC
    Health - Health tables for Annual, Quarterly, and RBC
    FAS - Financial Analysis Systems for Scoring, Profiles, & Handbook (Life & Property)
  5. Click the Table Name link to display the table.
  6. Click the links at the top of the columns (if available) to sort the list by Category, Page Number, Table Name or Description.
  7. To view a specific page of the annual statement, select the corresponding table name to the right of the page number (if available). The Data Reference Manual Table Detail page will display. This page includes the line number, line code, row description and field names.
  8. To save or print the page, select the appropriate function from your browser's File menu.
  9. To return to the Data Reference Manual page, click the Back button on your browser.
