Insurance Regulatory Information System

The Insurance Regulatory Information System (IRIS) provides a series of financial ratios that help examiners determine the financial solvency of an insurance company. An IRIS Summary Report and an IRIS Worksheet (1999 Fraternal) are available.

IRIS Summary Report
The IRIS Summary report provides IRIS ratio results for all companies of a specified business a type and data year based on whether the company is domiciled, licensed and/or writing business in a particular state.

To view IRIS Summary reports:

  1. Click the Summary Reports link under the Tools tab.
  2. Select IRIS Summary Report from the Financial area of the page.
  3. Click the Submit button to the right of the selection area.
  4. The IRIS Summary Report page will display. Select the desired criteria from the available fields. (NOTE: Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).)
  5. Click the Submit button to view the report based on the criteria selected.
  6. To save or print the report, select the appropriate option from your browser's file menu.
  7. To close the IRIS summary report, click the close button (X) at the top of the report window.
  8. To return to the Summary Reports page, click the Back button on your browser.

IRIS Worksheet

The IRIS Worksheet displays IRIS ratio results specific to a company for a given year. It contains company demographic information, summarized IRIS ratio results and key annual statement information. In addition, this worksheet provides detailed IRIS ratio information, including the values of the inputs to each ratio's calculation. The IRIS Worksheet is available for Fraternal companies for data year 1999 and later and Property and Life companies for data year 2000 and later.

To View IRIS reports using the iSite+ Reports Page  

  1. Search for an entity or entities by performing a Company/Firm Search. 
  2. Highlight which entity/entities you want reports on, found in the Company List box.
  3. Select the IRIS category from the Categories Frame.
  4. Click on the report you want to view.
  5. At the top of the IRIS Worksheet page, information about the selected company is displayed. The following information is included. (NOTE: See the Glossary for definitions of unfamiliar terms.)

    Company name - click the blue link to view company demographic information
    NAIC Company Code (Cocode)
    Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
    Business Type
    NAIC Group Code
    Analyst
    Nationally Significant
    Failed IRIS Ratios
    Risk-Based Capital (RBC) Ratio
    Analyst Team System (ATS) Level (formerly Examiner Team Priority)
  6. The first part of the worksheet lists the IRIS Ratios, unusual values for each ratio and the ratio for the specified company. To jump to the detail for any ratio, click the blue ratio link.
  7. The detail section for each ratio provides the page, column and line number of the annual statement where the information was obtained, as well as the value used for the specified company.
  8. If no IRIS ratios are available for the selected company, the IRIS Worksheet page will display with the message "No Data Found."

To View, Download, or Print Multiple Reports:

 Follow steps 1, 2, and 3, from the list above then: 

 Click on the check boxes next to the reports you want to view.

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen

        Click the View, Download, or Print button in the Reports Frame. 

To View, Download, or Print Multiple Reports from Multiple Report Categories: 

Select and save one or more Reports from your preferred category/categories, before clicking the View, Download, or Print button in the Reports Frame.

 To Save Selected Preferences Within the iSite+ Reports Page: 

Select the reports you would like to save.

Click the Current Report List button

Click the Saved Current Selected Reports .

Click the Save Reports Button.

When the prompt window appears enter the name you would like to give to this saved reports file.  Enter a meaningful name you will recognize later.

Click the OK button in the prompt window.
