Scoring

Scoring

The Scoring reports provide a set of "weighted" financial ratios that allow an analyst to prioritize companies based on solvency concern. Scoring reports are available for individual companies, and a Scoring Summary report is also available for a specified group of companies. A Scoring Worksheet is also available, which provides details of each Scoring Ratio component for a single company. Individual Scoring reports, Scoring Summary reports and the Scoring Worksheet are available based on both Annual and Quarterly Statement information.

Individual Scoring Reports
Four scoring reports are available, three quarterly reports and a summary report representing the entire annual statement year.
Both annual and quarterly reports are available for Life and Property companies. In addition, quarterly reports are available for Health companies.

The NAIC Financial Analysis Division under the direction of the Financial Analysis Working Group developed the ratios used to generate the reports. If a company’s ratios fall outside a given range, a score is assigned to the financial area in question. This allows the analyst to better prioritize those areas in need of regulatory attention.

It should be noted that the ratio ranges and scoring models are simply tools to help the analyst prioritize companies. These tools are based on general guidelines. Actual acceptable ratios may vary depending on several factors. In other words, what may be an unacceptable ratio for one company may be acceptable for another based on individual circumstances. The analyst should look at each company on an individual basis.

Security has been developed for the Scoring application and not all iSite+ users can access the Scoring reports. If you do not have access to the report submitted, a dialog box will display notifying you that you do not have permission to submit the report.
